Turners Falls runs over Belchertown

BELCHERTOWN- Turners Falls ran over and around the Belchertown Orioles en roué to a 43-13 victory Friday night.

Junior Trent Borbeau led a rushing attack that accumulated 196 yards with 145 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns.

Turners Falls controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish and took control of the game early. They were up 20-0 four seconds into the second quarter after starting their first three drives in Oriole territory thanks to two fumbles by Belchertown Quarterback Nicholas Leduc.

Indians’ Quarterback Malcolm Smith, who was 8-11 for 78 yards and a touchdown, bulldozed his way through five Oriole defenders for a one yard touchdown run with 2:19 to go in the second quarter to give Turners a 28-7 lead. Smith rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown on four carries.

Turners Falls took the second half kickoff and then ended the Orioles comeback hopes with a 13 play, 4:55 long touchdown drive capped off by a seven yard touchdown pass by Smith.

Belchertown scored 7:58 to go in the second when quarterback Nick Leduc found the end zone on a scramble.

The Orioles added another touchdown with less than thirty seconds to go in the fourth on a one yard touchdown pass to Jacob Mastorakis.

Leduc rebounded from a rough first half that included two fumbles and an interception to finish 11-18 with 104 passing yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 72 yards on 12 carries.

Belchertown hosts Greenfield next week while Turners Falls will take on Ludlow at home.
